Reggae Culture Salute (RCS) commemorates the coronation of Emperor Selassie I and Empress Menen of Ethiopia with a celebration of reggae music highlighting the relationship between reggae rastafari, Emperor Selassie and Jamaica, birthplace of reggae. RCS 2019 will pay tribute to the seminal reggae trio, The Wailers, in celebration of the UNESCO inscription of reggae to its list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Highlight of the evening include the first ever New York performance of the official Wailers Trio Tribute Group and the presentation of the CPR Pinnacle Award for Excellence to Hon. Neville “Bunny Wailer” Livingston, O.M., the sole surviving member of the trio.
The evening also includes a pre-show VIP reception at 7PM for the honoree as well as Nyabinghi drumming, dub poetry, dance and roots reggae with the CPR Allstars, Shango Trex, Ras Takura and more.
